State Minimum Wage Increases for 2015

 

American FlagSeveral states have decided to increase their minimum wage following the recent midterm elections. All increases are set to take effect January 1, 2015 unless otherwise specified. Here are the states along with their new hourly wages:

     Alaska - $8.75

     Arkansas - $7.50

     Connecticut - $9.15

     Hawaii - $7.75

     Maryland - $8.00 (further increase to $8.25 on July 1, 2015)

     Massachusetts - $9.00

     Nebraska - $8.00

     New York - $8.75 (effective December 31, 2014)

     Rhode Island - $9.00

     South Dakota - $8.50

     Vermont - $9.15

     West Virginia - $8.00 (effective December 31, 2014)

Two California cities have also passed their own increases:

     San Francisco - $12.25 (effective May 1, 2015)

     Oakland - $12.25, (effective March 1, 2015)
